DENSIMETRIC TABLES - DRY DENSIMETRIC SEPARATION
Densimetric tables are used in several industries for the efficient separation/concentration of dry materials by density.
This process ensures that the demanding requirements for separating dry materials efficiently and in a sustainable manner, while maintaining purity of the separated materials are met.
Operating Principle
Dry densimetric separation/concentration is achieved on an inclined, perforated vibrating plate.
Rising airflow blowed through the base of the treatment plate affects the materials differently; materials with lighter densities float without coming into contact with the vibrating plate. These particles flow downstream out.
Heavier materials in contact with the base of the treatment plate, are pushed upstream due to the vibrations of the plate.
It’s important to note that the greater the difference in density of the products, the larger the size ranges possible to treat.

Control parameters
During trial testing, control parameters such as characteristics of the vibratory movement, distribution of airflow through the plate, or level of the gates, can all be established for particular materials previously, reducing the need for further adjustments on-site.
Application areas
With its origins in the mineral industry, dry densimetric tables have successfully been transferred to other industries and activities such as:
Stones & Soil | Wood / Particle boards |
Plastic | Waste & Recycling |
Foodstuffs | Metallurgy |
Model Types
With a number of models available for various applications such as:
Machines for high-density products and particle sizes up to 80 mm (GSORT).
Machines for low density and medium-size products (FM Type).
Allgaier Mogensen’s most recent development the GSort densimetric Table. This exciting new development uses dry separation (by density) of bulk materials at a low cost. Separating materials of between 0.5 mm to 50 mm (up to 80 mm in light materials).
GSort - Advantages Overview
Increased Performance
With a performance increase of up to 80%, the GSort trumps current established sorting dry flotation methods, both in capacity and quality of final products.
Robust Design
The GSort’s overall height has been reduced for a more optimised footprint. It is also possible to individually adjust the sorting parameters.
Enhanced Safety
Redesigned safety concepts including a new cover have significantly improved the safety of the GSort, conforming to the latest technical standards.
Easy Handling & Operation
With a simple and intuitive design, the GSort is easy to disassemble, transport, and reassemble.
Environmentally Responsible
Reduced energy consumption (per metric ton) and a switch to dry separation method, thereby reducing water usage, makes the GSort an environmentally friendly technology.
Reduced Process Costs
With easy handling and an environmentally friendly design, the GSort can replace or complement wet gravity separators, reducing overall processing costs.
Increased Flexibility
The new simple and compact design ensures less downtime and guarantees stable performance.
Versatility
Encompassing a broad range of materials and processes, the GSort’s versatility is particularly effective at handling the following materials:
Industries:
- Recycling
- Building materials
- Glass recycling
- E-waste
- Plastic recycling
- Fine metals
- Cable waste
- Slag
Mining:
- Barite
- Coal
